Patrick Robinson – Head Instructor & Founder
Patrick Robinson is the founder and head instructor of Renagado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a lifelong student of the art. A 4th-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Patrick has spent decades on the mat as a competitor, coach, and strategist, helping students of all ages and experience levels train with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Patrick is best known for his game-planning-first approach to Jiu-Jitsu. Rather than teaching endless techniques in isolation, he helps students identify their strengths, simplify their decision-making, and build a personalized, repeatable A-game—whether their goal is competition success or simply becoming harder to submit every time they train. This philosophy is the foundation of Renagado BJJ and runs through every class.
As a competitor, Patrick has tested his Jiu-Jitsu at the highest levels of Masters competition, including major IBJJF events. As a coach, he has guided countless students through their first tournaments, podium finishes, belt promotions, and long-term development—always emphasizing intelligent preparation over guesswork.
Patrick is also the author of multiple books on combat sports strategy, including Roll to the Top (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Game Planning) and Climbing the Cage (MMA Game Planning). His writing and coaching focus on helping athletes think more clearly under pressure, reduce overwhelm, and perform closer to their true potential.
Renagado BJJ reflects Patrick’s core belief: there are no masters—only mentors. His goal is to create a training environment where adults can train hard, train smart, and continue progressing for years, not just seasons.
When you train at Renagado, you’re not just learning techniques—you’re learning how to think, plan, and fight your Jiu-Jitsu.
